The First Time is a 2012 teen romantic comedy film written and directed by Jon Kasdan and stars Britt Robertson, Dylan O'Brien, James Frecheville and Victoria Justice. Dave (Dylan O'Brien) is a high school senior who spends most of his time pining away over Jane (Victoria Justice), a girl he can't have. Aubrey (Britt Robertson), a junior at a different high school, has an older boyfriend Ronny (James Frecheville) who doesn't quite understand her or seem to care. A casual conversation between them sparks an instant connection, and, over the course of a weekend, things turn magical, romantic, complicated and funny as Aubrey and Dave discover what it's like to fall in love for the first time. Plot........................ Dave and Aubrey meet one night in an alley outside a party, where Dave seeks her advice about Jane. The cops arrive, but Dave and Aubrey evade them and walk home. During their walk, Dave reveals that he wants to go to Columbia University and become a teacher, whilst Aubrey admits she has no idea what she wants to do, except that she likes art and playing the drums to get rid of her anger. When they get to Aubrey's house Dave asks for her number and she invites him inside. Aubrey asks Dave if he's had sex yet to which he replies that he hasn't, and when he asks her the same question she replies "none of your business". Dave says he's never met anyone like Aubrey before. They fall asleep and when they wake up the next morning, Dave escapes through her bedroom window. Talking to his friends, Simon and Big Corporation, about Aubrey, they think she lied about having a boyfriend and tell him to text her, only for Dave to discover that she only gave him the first three digits of her number. They decide to call Stanwyck who has access to Aubrey's high school student database who gives Dave Aubrey's home number as her cell phone number isn't on the database. Dave phones Aubrey asking her what her plans are for the rest of the day. She says she's going to the movies with her boyfriend Ronny, to which Dave responds that he is also going to the cinema with his friends. At the cinema, Dave bumps into Jane and her friends Brianna and Erica. Dave and Jane end up seeing the same film as Aubrey and Ronnie. When Aubrey leaves during the film, Dave follows her into the lobby where she apologizes for being rude to him on the phone earlier. Dave forgives her by finally getting her cell phone number and invites her and Ronnie to Brianna's house. Before going back inside the cinema, Aubrey says to Dave that she has decided after high school that she wants to travel, and Dave decides he wants to go with her. At Brianna's house Aubrey and Jane have a heart-to-heart where Jane reveals that Dave is her best "guy friend" who always listens to her about her relationships. Jane says she is sick of self-absorbing guys, and would love a guy to just ask her a question or take her out to dinner because it would be such a surprise. Aubrey is about to suggest Jane go out with Dave but then stops half way through her sentence, claiming that she can't remember what she was going to say. Ronny reveals to Dave that he doesn't normally go for high school girls, but Aubrey is "pretty great" and after waiting a long time that they're going to have sex in his van that night. Dave asks Aubrey not to lose her virginity to Ronnie claiming that he isn't the right guy to share that special moment with but Aubrey says that she can lose her virginity to whoever she wants. Dave says that she "digs" him and as they are about to share a kiss, Ronnie interrupts wanting to leave immediately. Dave and Ronny get into a fight and Aubrey leaves with Ronny. Dave is alone with Jane, and whilst tending to his wound from his fight with Ronny, Jane begins talking about her relationships. Upon realizing his growing feelings for Aubrey, and that whenever Dave and Jane have their "late night talks" all they ever do is talk about her, he leaves. On his way home, Dave receives a text from Aubrey asking him to pick her up. On their drive around town she reveals that she broke up with Ronny, and they share a kiss. Aubrey's parents are going out for the evening, so Aubrey invites Dave over. Dave decides against bringing a condom as he doesn't want to be the guy who "carries a condom round in his wallet". They start making out, but Dave stops it claiming that this has been the best weekend of his life and he doesn't want to ruin it. He then says "fuck it" and they start making out again only to realize he didn't bring a condom. Aubrey is happy that he doesn't have one, as it shows that he didn't think they were going to have sex. Luckily, Aubrey has one and they have sex for the first time. However, it doesn't go as smoothly as they planned, leaving them both confused about their relationship. Dave seeks advice from Simon and Big Corporation, and whilst Simon tells him to move on as their relationship was never going to last, Big Corporation says to be a man and not to bail because of one little bump. The next day, Dave drives Aubrey to school and they decide to give their relationship another try and to "work on the sex thing". As Aubrey walks to first period she says to herself "screw it" and, despite saying to Dave when they first met that she hates public displays of affection, she runs up to Dave and kisses him.
